Напомним, что Boring Company сейчас занимается прокладкой тоннеля под Лос-Анджелесом. Он предназначен для перевозки транспортных средств и людей с помощью особых электрических капсул. Для связи надземной и подземной транспортных инфраструктур должна использоваться система специальных подъёмников.

Открыть пробную ветку тоннеля планировалось 10 декабря текущего года. Однако теперь сообщается, что это произойдёт немного позднее.

«Boring Company проведёт презентацию 18 декабря. Это будет больше, чем открытие тоннеля. Анонс будет включать модифицированные, но допущенные для использования на дорогах автономные транспортные средства, а также автомобильные подъёмники системы поверхность-тоннель», — сообщил господин Маск.

Предполагается, что в перспективе новая система поможет улучшить транспортную инфраструктуру в крупных городах. Скорость движения под землёй будет весьма высокой — 200 км/ч и, возможно, больше. Отмечается, что при создании электрических капсул будут использованы наработки Tesla.
